Príncipe Discos

Festival Tremor 2022

For the Noite Príncipe event, Paleta Itinerante transformed Arquipélago into a vibrant Príncipe Discos nightclub, featuring DJ Firmeza and DJ Danifox. The centerpiece was a tent designed by Marcio Matos, resembling an octopus with its arms reaching out to the audience, creating an immersive rave experience.

Objectives:

The main objective for this project was to create a visual installation that would transform the Arquipélago space into a Príncipe Discos nightclub, emphasising Marcio Matos’s art installations and drawings. The DJs performed inside a tent designed by Marcio, which resembled an octopus with its arms reaching out to the audience.

Challenges:

The event took place on the island of São Miguel, so we had to utilize only the technical resources available on the island. The primary challenge was positioning the tent in the middle of the room with the audience surrounding the stage 360º. We needed to ensure lighting from above to illuminate the tent and its surroundings effectively.

Solutions:

We suspended the tent from the main truss and positioned all lighting fixtures around the stage. Additionally, we suspended a video projector in an adjacent room and displayed two of Marcio’s paintings in the corners with dedicated lighting profiles.

Results/Impact:

The result was an immersive experience that transported the audience into a rave that embodied Príncipe Discos, from the music to the lights and the art installations. The atmosphere was fantastical, creating a beautiful and engaging rave environment. DJ Firmeza and DJ Danifox delivered outstanding sets, enhancing the overall experience.

Visuals/Media:

All art installations were created by Marcio Matos, and the video content was produced by JP.
