Kelsey Lu

On October 24, 2019, Kelsey Lu performed at Musicbox Lisbon, where Sebastião Pinto—then the venue’s resident lighting operator—was invited to design and operate the lighting for her show. The focus of the light design was to enhance the theatrical and emotionally nuanced nature of Lu’s performance, which moved between cello, vocals, and spoken word. Drawing inspiration from the visual world of her album Blood, the lighting leaned into warm tones, with a strong emphasis on deep reds to evoke intimacy, drama, and presence. The result was a visually poetic experience that mirrored the intensity and elegance of Lu’s set.
